Madrid after dark
Cocktail bars, natural wine and azoteas, indie/live venues — curated, no mega-clubs
Anton K.· Updated:
At night Madrid heads for world-class cocktail bars and indie scenes, skipping the mega-clubs. Salmón Gurú holds No. 37 in the World's 50 Best Bars (2025) and takes no reservations; Angelita mixes cocktails without ice or citrus in a basement lab; at Macera every spirit is macerated in-house, and 1862 Dry Bar works from Jerry Thomas's first cocktail book. For music, there's Sala El Sol, where the Movida began in 1979 (Nacha Pop, Alaska), Café La Palma with a concert every night, and the jazz room Clamores, open since 1981. Bars only get going by 23:00 — there's no point arriving earlier.
